One of our local papers, the Phoenix New Times, has an article in this week’s issue all about a professional con-artist named Allison DuBois. Some of you may have heard about this fraud and liar through various TV sources and exposes, or through the hit television show Medium, where she is protrayed as anything but what she actually is.
You see, Ms DuBois is a “psychic”, by which I mean “a fraud, a con-artist, a liar, a thief, etc”. Harsh words? Perhaps. But on the other hand, this is somewhat who exploits people’s pain in order to make a profit, who claims to have solved various crimes, and who, above all else, claims to have special magical powers that no one, ever, anywhere in the entire history of the Earth, has been proven to have.
Like John Edward, Sylvia Browne and James van Praagh, this bitch is, simply, a lying sack of shit. For proof of this, you need look no farther than the fact that she refuses to prove she has any of these abilities she claims to posses. If she honestly had these abilities she could prove them and a: get a million dollars from James Randi, b: rewrite the books on science and spirituality, and c: probably get a Nobel prize or two (though as Penn Jillette once said, “Who needs that Stockholm piece of crap?”).
But of course Ms DuBois, like all these other liars, refuses to go through such a test. She knows it would show her to be the fake that she is, though sadly, it probably wouldn’t dent her income. The true-believers that support her would continue to do so in spite of, or perhaps even because of, her failure.
I have no respect for DuBois and these other ammoral scum. They are raking in millions of dollars off the pain and suffering of people who are perhaps a little too trusting. People like Oprah Winfrey and Larry King need to stop promoting these frauds on their shows. Government needs to prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
They need to be stopped, and the sooner, the better.
