An Alaskan Perspective

Snopes.com is reproducing a letter written by a resident of Wasilla, Alaska describing Sarah Palin’s performance as mayor. It’s a pretty interesting read, and the source of the letter is legit. I don’t know if all the claims are, but I have heard several of them from other sources, so I’m inclined to believe most of them.

Anyhow, check it out.

I had a call about an hour ago from our Wasilla store. They let me know they were the home of our future Vice President. After resetting some equipment we had a few minutes to kill seeing if it would respond properly so I asked about this controversy. She said she hadn’t heard anything about it. Adding that Wasilla is pretty liberal so if it were true she’d have heard of it. Who knows. Both the store I just talked to and the author of this letter are private citizens. It is possible someone is misinformed or doesn’t know the whole story. If there is something to this though I would imagine the media would pick up on it pretty fast. Conservatives banning controversial books doesn’t come off good. Liberals banning insensitive books usually doesn’t either.

Banning books, or attempting to, is bad enough. Trying to fire the librarian who won’t allow you to ban them is even worse.
