The Vice-Presidential Debate is scheduled for Thursday. Palin versus Biden. Sarah Baracuda meets Joey the Shark. I’m sure it will go well, provided Biden can avoid any major gaffes. That Palin will make several is basically a given.
Of course the McCain camp knows Palin is likely going to do poorly, so they are doing everything they can ahead of time to lower expections and/or cover their asses so they have a ready-made excuse in place when/if she fails.
Their current one? That the debate moderator is not a neutral third-party, but rather a secret Obama-lover!
Believe it or not, I think they have a very slight point here. Gwen Ifill has written a book about race and Obama, after all. So if they really want her replaced, I won’t mind terribly. I know I’d have an eye roll going on if it was someone who had written a book about McCain.
But on the other hand, what does it matter who the debate moderator is? What, she’s going to ask Palin, “Please tell us when you stopped molesting your children?”, and say to Biden, “Americans know you rock. Tell us why?” No. They’re both going to get the same questions.
Anyhow, if you have faith in your candidate you shouldn’t care who the moderator is. They should be able to handle themselves regardless. If they can’t, well… yeah.
