An article on the CBC’s website shows that Alberta is about to make classes that cover “controversial” issues, like homosexuality and evolution to be “optional” courses that parents can choose to have their child skip.
Fail, fail, FAIL!
Look, Alberta, I understand that you, like the rest of Canada, has a massive inferiority complex when it comes to the USA. We know you want to be more like us; a mighty colossus standing astride the world. But emulating the worst of the USA is not the way to do this.
Anyhow, parents shouldn’t have the right to keep their children ignorant. If you’re scared that your Bible doesn’t hold up to what’s being taught in school, that’s tough. You don’t get to enforce that view on your children, or at least you shouldn’t.
Parents rights can go hang when the educational rights of a child are at stake.
