I strongly hold onto the opinion that the Catholic church is the the greatest force of evil in the world. I’m not alone on this. There was a debate that was all about if they’re a force for good. It features Christopher Hitchens, Stephen Fry and a couple other people I don’t really care about.
Have a look, and make sure you watch the whole thing; all five parts. It’s really quite fascinating!

This whole debate just gives me faith … in the ability of intelligent humans to recognize the truth when they hear it. The motion, of course, is: The Catholic Church is a force for good in the world.
the beginning totals:
For: 678
Against: 1102
Undecided: 346
the ending totals:
For: 268, for a change of negative 410
Against: 1876, for a change of positive 774
Undecided: 34 for a change of negative 312…
Which means that not only did Mssrs. Hitchens and Fry convert almost the entirety of the undecided, they converted the lion’s share OF THE OPPOSITION.
Well done, I say. Well done.
