Suppose that you were told by a doctor or several that you had only one year left to live. At the end of that time you’d die in your sleep from some painless ailment.

So here’s the question: What do you do with your year?

Me, I know fairly well what I’d do. Cash out my 401 (k), then go to Europe. Run like a maniac through Paris, Prague, Berlin, Rome, London, etc. Then I’d visit Guam. Why Guam? Never been there, that’s why. Sounds like an interesting place.

Additionally I’d visit my family, finish one of the novels I keep thinking I’m going to write one of these days, try to chip away the list of movies I’d like to watch and try to have lunch with at least one famous and interesting person.

That’s what I’d do! How about you?

I have a couple mapping programs on my site showing where people log in from. I’ve seen, in the last few days, people from France, Vietnam, Iran, Finland, South Africa, Tunisia, the UK, Canada and Australia! It’s very cool!

I like it so much, in fact, that I’d love it if people would put a little comment on here putting what city and country they’re logging in from. Just cause I think it’s cool.

So! Here’s the scenario: You’re on a boat… or a plane. Possibly a submarine. Anyhow, it sinks or crashes… or in the case of the sub, doesn’t sink… or something. Anyhow, long story short, you’re on a desert island which, for some reason, has a DVD player, a TV, electricity and no radio.

Strangely, you knew in advance this was going to happen to you. Apparently Sylvia Browne was actually right about something; no surprise since, after all, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. So you’ve come prepared. Oddly, you didn’t bring any survival gear, but you did bring five books and five DVDs.

So the question is this: what books and what DVDs do you bring? These are the only ones you’ll have for the entire time you’re stuck on the island. I’d love to see what answers you guys have!
