Apparently he does a little thirty second magic trick wherein he makes a toothpick disapear. Additionally he has apparently transported the entire state of Florida to Salem, circa 1630. Consider this quote from the article I linked to:
Tampa Bay’s 10 talked to the assistant superintendent with the Pasco County School District who said it wasn’t just the wizardry and that Picular had other performance issues, including “not following lesson plans” and allowing students to play on unapproved computers.”
“… it wasn’t just the wizardry…” So at least in part it was the wizardry. God forbid David Blaine should visit the town. He’d probably be burned at the stake (and I’m sure there’s a down side to that, but I’m not sure what it is).
So, again I ask, what the fuck is wrong with Florida? I know you guys down there get tired of having half your state being made up of retired people from New York, but still.
Repeat after me:
This is 2008, not the 17th century.
This is America.
Magic is not real.
Firing someone for “wizardry” is only smart if you want to be sued up one side and down the other.
*** UPDATE! ***
I was feeling slightly guilty about this article, and the tone I wrote it in, then I read this article.
The product mentioned there is stupid enough, but the fact that Florida is trying to make a law against it…
Can we just sort of saw Florida off from the rest of the USA? Please?
