2011 on My Blog

Got this in the email from WordPress. Neat!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2011 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The Louvre Museum has 8.5 million visitors per year. This blog was viewed about 120,000 times in 2011. If it were an exhibit at the Louvre Museum, it would take about 5 days for that many people to see it.

Yet More Religious Evil

You may have heard about a story recently where a little girl in the Middle East was on her way to school and a bunch of religious extremists, who make up a whopping 10% of the population of this girl’s country, attacked her verbally, spit on her, called her a whore, etc. Why? Well, she was wearing short sleeves. These are the same fanatics who believe there should be separate sidewalks for males and females. This isn’t even just confined to their country. No, these wackaloons have managed to export their insanity to the United States and have basically taken over a town in New York.

I really have nothing to say about this, beyond the fact that if your religious beliefs allow you to think that it’s ok to call little girls whores because they are wearing short sleeves, then you and your religious beliefs are fucked-up beyond all sanity.

Finally a Good Use for Daleks

Plus the rest of this is made from 100% pure awesome.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skullfuck

So, yeah. Mister Plinkett is at it again. For those of you who can’t stomach his voice, I say, “Get over it.” The guy’s videos are amazingly perceptive, and even though I liked the most recent Indy movie more than he did, I can concede he’s accurate about the faults.

Yay, Christmas is Done!

I don’t hate Christmas. I don’t celebrate it, because I can’t separate the religious aspects from the secular ones and just go with it, but I don’t hate it. That said, what I do hate, with a passion, are Christmas TV ads. And not just any Christmas ads. No, while the ones from Old Navy and the like are fairly hideous, there’s one type of Christmas ad that really takes it to a whole different level.

Car ads.

These ads, usually from Lexus or Infiniti, show people who live on an alien world where the 1% gets to give out cars to their family members as Christmas presents. Not just any cars, either, but luxury cars! They usually do this is in cute and clever ways or, in the Christmas/winter themed Infiniti ads, get to smirk a lot while having winter revenge on someone. I really despise these ads.

Now, admittedly, it would be nice to be rich enough to give someone a brand new luxury car for Christmas, though if I did, it would be a real luxury car and not a Lexus or Infiniti. But on the other hand, if I were that rich I wouldn’t likely care what any stupid car commercial said I should buy.

I know the point isn’t to sell to the 1%. It’s to sell to the upper 10% or so. The people who pull in over $75,000 a year and still don’t have an underwater mortgage. But as someone decidedly in the 99%, I find them really obnoxious.

Our Broken Electoral System

So Iowa has their caucus in about eight days, as CNN never tires of reminding me. It’s the first official stage of the 2012 Presidential Election, and I take some serious solace in the fact that, within a month after Iowa, we’ll largely be done with the GOP race, and we’ll have the Romney vs Obama race confirmed.

Recently I came across a series of videos about the electoral system and how, basically, the one we have simply doesn’t work. The general election is skewed heavily toward only two parties and the electoral collage, with its 5% failure rate, is a joke that needs to be elminated.

Sadly, the only way to make these changes is by amending the Constitution, and that happens so very rarely. It’s certainly not likely to happen anytime soon. But I can hope, and dream, and in the meantime, I can look at these vids that explain exactly what the problem is and how to fix it! Enjoy!

Make sure you check the rest in that series, then check this:
