Orson Scott Card…Still a Motherfucking Bigot

Hello, you smug dipshit. Time to get taken down another few pegs.

Hello, you smug dipshit. Time to get taken down another few pegs.

Back when I was first starting up this blog, one of my earliest posts was about one Orson Scott Card and his views on homosexuality in general and gay marriage in particular. Some of his greatest hits:

We already know where these decisions lead. We have seen it with the court decisions legalizing abortion. At first, it was only early abortions; within a few years, though, any abortion up to the killing of a viable baby in mid-birth was made legal…

A term that has mental-health implications (homophobe) is now routinely applied to anyone who deviates from the politically correct line. How long before opposing gay marriage, or refusing to recognize it, gets you officially classified as “mentally ill”?…

A vast number of unmarried men and women have such contempt for marriage that they share bed and home without asking for any formal recognition by society…

Yeah, he’s a real charmer. Now there is, sadly, a movie version of his famous novel, Ender’s Game. Let’s have a look at a trailer, shall we?

Unfortunately, it looks slightly interesting. Almost interesting enough to tempt me into seeing it. However the Devil, as the Christians like to point out, will come in an attractive form. Yes, Card felt the need to mouth off again about something that doesn’t even remotely concern him and isn’t his business.

Ender’s Game is set more than a century in the future and has nothing to do with political issues that did not exist when the book was written in 1984.

With the recent Supreme Court ruling, the gay marriage issue becomes moot. The Full Faith and Credit clause of the Constitution will, sooner or later, give legal force in every state to any marriage contract recognized by any other state.

Now it will be interesting to see whether the victorious proponents of gay marriage will show tolerance toward those who disagreed with them when the issue was still in dispute.

Well, I…actually kind of agree with him there. The Full Faith and Credit Clause will indeed eventually require that gay marriages be recognized in all states. That’s nicely pragmatic of him to understand. But then there’s his last line.

Now it will be interesting to see whether the victorious proponents of gay marriage will show tolerance toward those who disagreed with them when the issue was still in dispute.

So, translation here, “Please don’t boycott my movie just because I said gay marriage was a valid reason for a state like, say, Utah, to leave the Union! Please don’t boycott my books just because I said you’re an inferior group of people! Please don’t treat me, and people like me, in the way we’ve treated you! Be better than we are!”

On that last line, I agree entirely. But, see, I’m already better than this ass-clown because I’m not some obnoxious, intolerant, venom-spewing, anti-American, homophobic, hate-filled bigot. And so I will treat him with every bit of respect to which he is due. In that spirit, allow me to say the following:

FUCK YOU FUCKING ASSHOLE, AND THE FUCKING HORSE YOU FUCKING RODE IN ON.

Once again, I’m done with this jackass.
