Vaccination and Health

Imagine, if you will, that you grew up in a family where there was basically nothing artificial in your diet. You ate organic, generally all-natural foods with limited meat. You got plenty of exercise and led an active lifestyle. You were “breastfed for over a year, organic homegrown vegetables, raw milk, no MSG, no additives, no aspartame. My mother used homeopathy, aromatherapy, osteopathy; we took daily supplements of vitamin C, echinacea, cod liver oil.”

Now imagine that despite all that, you got sick. Very sick. Constantly sick. You got things like “measles, mumps, rubella, a type of viral meningitis, scarlatina, whooping cough, yearly tonsillitis, and chickenpox”. Why all those things when you were living such a healthy lifestyle?

Because your parents were borderline abusive and refused to vaccinate you as a child.

I don’t quite get what’s so hard for people to understand about this concept. If you don’t vaccinate your children against infectious diseases, the odds of them getting those diseases, some of which have very bad side-effects up to and including death, go up considerably. You also put other people in danger, like children who, for whatever reason, cannot be vaccinated.

Vaccinate your fucking kids, people. Do what the doctors tell you to do. It’s not that hard to understand. If you don’t, you’re an abusive parent who probably shouldn’t have children.

There are many people who romanticize and fantasize about living in the past. Not me. You need only stroll through a historic cemetery and see all the gravestones of children — dead before they had a chance to live their lives. Dead from measles, flu, cholera, whooping cough, and countless other now-preventable diseases. I too am a fan of vaccination. If you have the means at hand to keep your children healthy, you should do so. Stop paying attention to half-informed celebrities and speak to your pediatrician about vaccine safety.
