So that’s that. Seattle’s long time of not having any major world or national championship teams is over. The Seahawks have won the Superbowl by a score of 43 to 8, really stomping the Denver Broncos into the dust. The last time any team from Seattle won everything big was back in the late 1970s when the (now non-existent), Seattle Super Sonics clinched the NBA championship.
While I am not even slightly into sports, much less football, a sport I loathe with great intensity, I did grow up in the Seattle area. I saw all the various teams doing various degrees of poorly, especially the Seahawks and the Mariners, and while I didn’t much care, it was always something I was aware of.
And now, Seattle has, for the first time since disco was king, a championship team. Excellent. Well done, all.
