Pretentious Nonsense Like You’ve Never Seen Before

So check this laughably awful ad for Miller High Life, widely-known, according to Miller’s advertising department, as “the Champagne of Beers”.

Wow, that’s just…wow. Let’s look at that again.

That’s possibly one of the worst ads I’ve ever seen. Everything about it is terrible. It’s in a “full screen” ratio, it’s black and white, and it has “ironic” imagery that conflicts with what the voice over is saying. To top it all off, it takes a beer that sells for about $2 bucks for a 40oz bottle and tries to claim it’s something noble, something wonderful, and something that you might actually want inside you for something other than just a cheap buzz.

If there’s one thing I hate, hate, hate, it’s pretentiousness. This ad is rock-solid pretension, through and through. There is nothing even remotely good here. It’s just terrible.

To quote Lisa Simpson, anytime something says it’s the something of something, it’s not really the anything of anything.
