The Inexorable March of Time

So Stephen Colbert ended his show. Craig Ferguson stepped down from his. Now comes word today that Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show for the last several years, is quitting at the end of this year.

Well, phooey.

Had this happened last year, I would have been reasonably confident that they could find a great replacement in John Oliver. Instead, HBO found Oliver and gave him a pretty great show. So that’s not happening. I’m not sure who all this leaves, which makes me doubt that it’ll be someone who is currently on the show.

Still, I do look forward to finding out who the replacement will be, and I hope that they can be every bit as great as Stewart has been.
